Criminal damages — graffiti
The week has seen a significant amount of graffiti incidents across the town.
These include the Rose Gardens amenities building overnight on Wednesday, August 17, where various text tags where written using yellow spray paint and a residence in Kelly Crt, where text and indecent images were completed using silver spray paint.
Friday night saw a number of vehicles in Monds Ave, Charles St and Cook St tagged with silver and gold spray paint.
These amount to about $5000 in damage expenses.
Burglary and theft
A white Toyota Hilux Ute and a quantity of firearms were stolen from a rural property on Samaria Rd, Samaria, between 6pm Friday, August 19, and 10am Saturday, August 20. The firearms include a Larranaga shotgun, a Sportco 222, Whinchester 38-72WCF and 44WCF, Baikal 22 rimfire and a Anschultz 22 magnum.
Offender/s cut the padlock to the Benalla Hockey Club Rooms overnight last Wednesday and stole a jar of coins and keys to other areas of the building.
A 27-year-old Eagle Point male was arrested after police found a quantity of amphetamines in his vehicle during a routine intercept at 8.30am on Saturday, August 20.
Police have received reports of victims receiving calls from persons purporting to be from the Australian Tax Office (ATO) or Police acting on behalf of the ATO.
It is important not to provide requested information over the phone and do not rely on return emails or phone numbers provided by them as valid return inquiry options.
