Local Council elections will take place next month.
Carers Victoria in partnership with the Victorian Electoral Commission is offering this valuable interactive workshop free in Benalla.
For a limited time, the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) and Carers Victoria are offering Carer Support Groups across Victoria a free voting workshop.
This interactive workshop will answer questions like:
●What services do councils provide?
●Who is eligible to vote?
●How do you assist a person with a disability to enrol and vote?
●When and how do you vote in local council elections?
●What difference does voting make?
●The aim of the workshop is to increase carers’ understanding of the importance of voting for people with disabilities.
Voting is for Everyone is the VEC’s education program tailored for people living with a disability and their carers.
The next workshop is at Benalla Community Care, 45 Coster St, on Monday, October 10, from 1pm to 2.30pm.
Please note, a light lunch will be served.
You will learn about the different ways carers may be able to support the person they care for with the voting process, discuss issues of influence, and the different levels of government will be explained.
Bookings are limited.
