Four students from FCJ College were presented with the Rotary Club of Benalla Young Achiever Award for 2016.
Hannah Humphries, James Ridgwell, Asha Greenhalgh and Lauren Lucas were given this award in recognition of their demonstrated outstanding efforts in the areas of community service, leadership and academic achievements.
Hannah Humphries: is a natural leader and is a positive influence on those around her.
She helped to organise the Winter Sleep Out and was a key member of the Youth Ministry Team.
Hannah was also School Captain this year.
As a member of the Youth Action Committee she worked with her peers to form a Youth Drop-In Centre.
James Ridgwell: loves his music and he has performed at many events within the Benalla community.
It is a measure of his talent that he has already received offers from several tertiary institutions to further his musical learning.
He demonstrated commitment to social justice by taking part in the Winter Sleep Out, which is an initiative to highlight the plight of the homeless.
Asha Greenhalgh: has been involved with the Youth Action Committee (YAC) whose major focus is creating awareness of youth mental health issues.
The YAC was successful in gaining council for funding a Youth Drop-In centre at the Drill Hall.
She works consistently and conscientiously at her studies and is great role model for others.
Lauren Lucas: was vice-captain of the school this year and was an enthusiastic and positive leader.
Like Asha she is involved with the YAC. Lauren excels academically and was awarded a Kwong Lee Dow scholarship by Melbourne University.
This scholarship is an academic enrichment program designed to support high-achieving students.
