Car theft probed

Police are investigating the theft of a car during the weekend after the keys were left inside, and it was left unlocked.

The 96 Holden Commodore was stolen from Ledger St, Benalla, in the early hours of Sunday, February 5.

The car was found in Goomalibee Rd in the afternoon abandoned.

It’s a reminder that the public has a duty to secure their property against thieves.

Witnesses sought

Police are appealing for witnesses after thieves stole a solar panel light fixture from Jaycee Island between January 30 and 31.

The thieves scaled the light pole to access the solar panel.

Actions disappoint

Benalla Police are disappointed in the actions of two drivers after being caught exceeding 0.05 during the weekend.

A 40-year-old female returned a positive result of 0.116 after attending a PBT site in Bridge St, Benalla.

A 70-year-old female returned a positive result of 0.142 after being intercepted in Arundel St on Saturday.

The female’s condition was observed by a diligent off-duty police member. Both drivers had their licence cancelled.
