The 22nd annual Glenrowan Winemakers’ Weekend kicks off this Saturday, October 14, with a moving feast, progressive picnic and leisurely grazing at a number of wineries.

Several of Glenrowan’s wineries and brewers will be part of the festival, including Baileys of Glenrowan, Auldstone Cellars, Morrisons of Glenrowan, Booths Taminick Cellars and Black Dog Brewery.

Glenrowan marketing manager Jennifer Booth said the prominent event of the weekend was the Gourmet Getabout on Saturday.

‘‘Start your gourmand journey with ‘sunset and cruise’ for an evenings of dining at select locations in the infamous and historic Kelly country,’’ Ms Booth said.

‘‘Rinaldo’s Adam Pizzini will create the delicious degustation menu that will be highlighted by a selection of the region’s famous wines with each course.

‘‘A dinner coach service will be provided from Wangaratta and Glenrowan, which also includes transfers between the secret venues, so attendees can relax and enjoy an evening of food and wine.

‘‘Glenrowan is renowned for the beauty of its natural environment, surrounded by national park and the Winton Wetlands on its border, just a stone’s throw away.

‘‘Collect a lunch hamper filled with a four-course native-inspired menu and locally grown seasonal produce to savour the Australian flavour along the Wild Harvest Trail.

‘‘Enjoy your progressive picnic with paired wine and craft beer at the four regional wineries and a brewery on the scenic trail.

‘‘Hampers are available both Saturday and Sunday of the Glenrowan Winemakers Weekend and bookings are essential.

‘‘Don’t miss Sunday’s Glenrowan Grazing with the day’s program kicking off with a hearty winemakers breakfast.’’

The breakfast can be booked separately or as part of the Gourmet Getabout dinner package.

If you would prefer to ease into the day you can sample food, wine, beer and local produce at a number of Glenrowan Wineries.

Savoury and sweet grazing plates are available with a selection of culinary delights, and expert winemakers will be on hand to suggest the ideal wine to accompany your food.

The program also includes ‘‘winemakers activities’’ where participants can quiz experts on how wines are produced and take part in workshops, masterclasses and learning sessions.

A tour and tasting session for beer fans is also available at the Black Dog Brewery.

Prices for different events vary.

Tickets for the full Gourmet Getabout dinner package cost $140, which includes all food and wine.
